Tom Joad

Core price reading jumps more than projected, fueling fears of further Fed rate hikes; worker wages aren't keeping up but Rove says Republicans should run on the strength of the economy. What a tool. I guess as long as you don't want your middle class and young to have viable economic futures, you would see the economy as perfect.

Although Lou Dobbs is speaking in the context of illegal immigration, I think he is onto something when he says "President and Senate allied with 'corporate supremacists." Another name for fascism is corporatism after all. If a conservative bulwark like Dobbs is naming that evil that dare not speak its name, then how far down that path are we really? Can we truly come back? I'm beginning to truly wonder if there is a way, given the compromised integrity of our political system. I truly fear a coup - and not one as relatively benign as what happened in 2000 and 2004. It keeps me up at night. The web of connections between this administration the slimey underbelly of our military is frightening. Any bright cheery news would be most welcome.

I just wonder at the mechanics involved in someone having their head so far up their ass.

I expected posturing for mid-term elections, but good grief! Things are just getting out of control. I might give people too much credit, since I believe that people well get tired of the b.s. and the same sort of "don't mess with my shit" idealolgy that helps fuel the NRA will eventually spill over in to the rest of their lives. This flies in the face of the repubs apparent belief that people are to damn stupid and lazy so we can do anything we want.

Eventually people will get tired of it. It just takes Americans are really, really loooooooooooooong time to get p.o-ed enough to get off their behinds and do something.

Look at some of the things that THEY are choosing to go after... The Internet; Video Games (someone came up with the idea to place the onus of decided if an idividual game was appropriate for the person attempting to buy it, on the store and its salesclerks. Thus creating a totally unenforceable bill. But it's sounds good on a sound byte); and now Online Poker. --Notice I said online poker - NOT online gambling. The legislation is aimed specifically at online poker. Rather that regulate and tax it like Britain does, some Repubs have decided to shut it down in America. This involves having Banks report transactions with online poker companies, and having services providers block access to individual site. Now, all of this intrusiveness is directed only at online poker. Online lotteries, and other forms of gambling are all okay. That just doesn't make much sense to me.

What is most frustrating is if you go issue by issue, most Repubs disagree with all of this crap - but too many can not, or will not, connect the dots and hold thier party responsible by voting for someone else or not voting.

As far as the mechanics, the human body is an amazing creation. Ther eis not limit to the ingenuity and flexibility of some people.
